Yet poppies rise, a crimson tide, A whisper of those who fought and died. They speak no more, their voices stilled, But in the earth, their promise filled. The torch they held, we take in hand, To guard the peace for which they stand. In fields aflame, we plant the seeds, Of hope renewed through selfless deeds. On this Thanksgiving Monday, I am reflecting on things I am grateful for, the creature comforts and peaceful existence I should never take for granted. Thank you for your service, CAF members. Thank you for your sacrifice and duty in serving the interests of our country, our allies, and attending to nations where there is turmoil and violent unrest. Many of you deployed so far from your families: I hope that you will be reunited with your loved ones soon, and that it will be cause for celebration. For leaving your family, friends, pets and your home, to serve the country! I don't think I would have such a good night's sleep every SINGLE day without you heroes! Dear Canadian troops. My grandfather was a drill Sgt. In WWII. He was stationed in Italy. My grandmother manufactured grenades in St. Marys Ontario during war time. My dad was a cadet in the Airforce. I guess I was the lazy one?
