Brigade Communications Information System UOR
Project Type
Project New
Objective
The objective of the Brigade Communications Information Systems (CIS) Urgent Operational Requirement (UOR) is to deliver various communications equipment and supporting software packages to address the operational disadvantages that currently exist in the Canadian Army’s (CA) tactical network for its Operation REASSURANCE mission.
The CIS Brigade UOR will address these capability gaps by replacing some equipment that does not meet the interoperability, mobility, and robustness requirements that are critical for the success of Operation REASSURANCE.
Requirements
The UOR will deliver capabilities in three categories at the Brigade (Bde) and below: Tactical Communications (TacComms), Tactical Command and Control Information Systems (TacC2IS) and Platform Integration. General deliverables include the following:
- TacComms: Expand tactical radio fleet (VHF/UHF/HF), establish Bde Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET) or mesh data network to establish a decentralized CP concept for improved survivability, expand high-capacity data bearers, and expand satellite communications fleet to include both military and commercial options.
- TacC2IS: Acquire a NATO interoperable battle management system, acquire light tactical network suites, a wireless command post capability and tactical cross domain solutions to improve CIS mobility, interoperability and survivability.
- Platform Integration: This includes the integration of the above TacComms and TacC2IS systems into select vehicle platforms in order to further enhance CIS mobility and survivability and provide an on-the-move Bde C2 capability. Due to the complexity, schedule and cost, platform integration will be done as a best effort.
