Automatic Identification Technology
Project Type
New
Objective
The AIT Project will acquire and integrate readily available Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) marking/reading technologies into Defence Resource Management Information System (DRMIS) to automate supply chain business processes and data capture and entry capabilities at designated DND/CAF supply unit locations including those deployed in Canada and abroad. The capability will enhance asset visibility and, in turn, facilitate increased operational readiness, material and fuel management. The project contributes to Defence Policy (SSE) initiatives 29-58, 60, 62, 63, 64, 67 and 105.
Requirements
The Automatic Identification Technology (AIT) Project will acquire, deliver, and configure automated data capture technologies (equipment, hardware, and firmware) and its integration/interfacing software (mobile applications and middleware) allowing the AIT solution interface with the Enterprise Resource Planning/Defence Resource Management Information System (ERP/DRMIS) system across the Defence Supply Chain (DSC). This new capability will support the timely and accurate input of key materiel management data into DRMIS and drastically reduce manual data entry, improve data accuracy, and support a reduction in inventory levels over time by not buying excess stock, or running out of critical stock, in error due to poor item visibility.
